Cosmic Bowling

Emily and Daddy were there with us but didn't make it into the pictures for tonight.
The girls LOVED it.
Em used bumpers and a bowling dinosaur that made everything super easy.
She loved the shoes too.
Katie was most excited about the music and lights.
Taking a bowling class came in handy once again!

Holler!

Jeannett made my day!

11.08.2011

I hate when my favorite lipstick is used for body paint!

11.06.2011

 Wind shifted.  Balloon attack!

We put the extra helium left over from Katie's party to good use.

Sea World

 I love Sea World.
Turns out, so do the girls!
Daddy took us last week a
nd we almost talked him into smuggling a penguin home for us.
The touch pools are to die for.
Seriously, hours of fun could be had here.
Emily talks most about how she likes to hold sea stars.
By the way, sea stars are no longer called star fish because they are not fish.
I totally get it but I just can't seem to change the name in my head.
Oh well.
Sea World does a great job with interesting, accessible exhibits.
Emily was most excited to see the penguins.
We sat on the benches for half an hour
and watched all the little guys do their thing.

The ice caves scared the girls.
Maybe it was because I took off with out them
and kept yelling "the polar bear is back here."
They would have none of it.
I miss our annual pass to the aquarium.
More fun at the touch pools.
 Katie to the rescue!
 Sharks!
This was another great exhibit.
The girls were totally scared by the sharks.
It didn't help that there are open pools that you could totally climb into with lots of sharks.
I would hold the girls up
but if I had a seizure
and accidently dropped them
and they bounced the wrong way,
they would be shark bait!
 More sharks.
Note to Colin, we must remove the date stamp.
One of the high lights of the day was listening to Katie mimic the animals.
Cutest seal bark and dolphin squeak ever!

Dress Up

The girls get to pick with a little help from mom and dad.
Okay fine. I pick and convince them it is what they want.
We go to our frequently read books for inspiration.
This year we have
Strawberry Short Cake.
Tonight Em will be Briar Rose as Princess Aurora.
I would have pictures but Em rather nap than dress up today.

And since we never do just one costume I present
 Wonder Woman!

 Watch out bad guys.
This girl is serious about her lasso of truth.
 Katie as a birdie.
Pink bottomed blue bird.
Please notice the worm in her mouth.
 Perching. Watching. Jumping.
And a lot of flapping.

Insert the word of your choice...

I am feeling ___________ today.

This is the week that life changes drastically for us.
I'm holding my breath.
I'm taking a break from life to hunker down and weather the storm.
No posting for a while.

Katie's Pre-Birthday Party

 This picture describes the party.
This girl can have fun anywhere
but add an unlimited supply of gumballs...
oh my it was a fun day.
Her birthday isn't until December but I just could not wait.

 What a fun gift.
No guilt if or when it dies.
Right Grace?
100 balloons.  Most of them polka dot.
Hundreds of gumballs.
What isn't to love?
Friends from Arizona came all the way to celebrate!
Baby Naomi is a doll!

 Katie loves when people visit.
Plus she loves Leah.
(Jess and Becky, I couldn't get a photo that was good of all of you, sorry.  I know there is a little competition of who gets on the blog, wink.)

Make sure the cake is edible.
Loading the kids up with sugar.

I was in hand bell choir growing up.
LOVED IT!
So I bought a hand bell set for preschool
which we use a lot when friends come over for an impromptu music session.
These girls were obviously having fun.
 Swing the birthday girl.
Erin, thanks for playing along.
Next time you don't have to wait for the 8th gum ball to say no more.

 Welcome baby Brody!
 We like your cat.
More than one of my girls wants to bring it home.
I love this little guys' eyes.
 Come see our frog!
 Oh, no! He escaped!
She kept saying "the kitten won't let me put him down."

The Pumpkin Patch

We were off to the pumpkin patch.
Katie did not want to walk.
After a little investigation,
I put her shoes on the wrong feet!
Absent minded is a nice way to describe me recently.

 We went for the pumpkins
and got wrapped up in the old time candy
and Christmas decorations.
Katie still did not want to walk.
Lucky for her Daddy and Uncle Austin are suckers.
Then she needed to be spun around.
Trying to walk she ended up on the ground.
We made our way past the carriage rides,
the tractor rides,
the endless booths of arts and crafts and kettle corn.
We made it to the giant pumpkins.
For many of you who have visited our home recently,
you know we grow our own giant pumpkins.
So we go to look and watch Rachel pick her favorite.
Boo insisted on touching as many pumpkins as she could.
The rule in Rachel and Austin's home is that
Rachel can take home the largest pumpkin she can pick up.
It's funny to watch her struggle.
Her eyes are bigger than her biceps.
 Colin tried to help out.
He almost squished her.
Death by pumpkin is rather unfortunate.
Austin chose his own test of strength.
He passed.
Katie has a different method of conquering the pumpkin challenge.
 My husband is a farmer.
He would disagree but
his joy for sowing, tending and harvesting says otherwise.
He pocketed seeds for next years planting.
 So pretty.
So sweet.

 Wheel barrow rides!
Best dad ever.
 Em enjoys taking the camera.
Her recent favorite person to photograph is me.

 We had a great time.

We drove home to bake fresh pretzels.
Baked with garlic butter parmesian topping.
So delicious.
