Toddlers move a lot

and Emily is no exception. She is really moving on her Red Flyer bike that she got for Christmas.
Gymnastics is coming along really well. She likes the tumbling and flips but the balance beams are her favorite.

Happy Chinese New Year

Last week Emily wore her sweet Chinese girl dress that Nana picked up in China. Emily generally gets a lot of attention when we go out but this was ridiculous. We could barely walk 10 feet in the store before someone else oogled and wanted to talk to her. This was especially painful because Emily does not freely talk to people she does not know. Finally we were safe in the garden center where there were few people...but only for a minute. An older Chinese lady had to come talk to Emily. When she found out that her birthday was on the Chinese New Year she was so excited she walked Emily to the nearest display of rather large expensive plants and told her to pick one. You have got to be kidding me. We tried to persuade the nice lady but she insisted on buying Emily something. I suggested we go to the small and inexpensive plants. No deal. Well, okay. And then my daughter picked a ...Chimpanzee statue! So ugly. It had a plant on it until Emily decided that the plant was in the way of her beloved statue. It will disappear soon.
I made fortune cookies for the birthday party. Complete with a fortune inside.

Happy 2 Month Day

Katie is doing great. This girl loves to sleep and eat. She has full conversations with us cooing back and forth. She smiles easily and laughs a little too.
At her well baby check-up she didn't like her oral vaccine and spit up all over the nurse. Thankfully the nurse had a great attitude.
I think Emily eats oranges just so she can smile like this. Her latest phrase is "letsdoit!" eg "Mommy look at park, letsdoit." "Playing in rain, letsdoit." "Bubbles in bath, yea, letsdoit."
