Oh Columbia

We recently visited Great Grandma in the historic town of Columbia.
Life is just more pleasant some places and this is one of them.
Fishing with Great Grandma.

Katie was enjoying herself.

 Emily caught three fish.
A little help from daddy because a lady can always bait her own hook...but why would she?

The water fountain was set to turbo.  A nice splash on a hot day.
A little dress up at the museum.  Followed by old time bowling and stick candy.

Our littlest cabbage patch girl wasn't very excited about mom making her lay in veggies.

Grammy and Katie at the fishing derby.
Emily and Grandpa try to catch more than a crayfish.
Grandpa helped Emily make a wood boat that now carries dinosaurs in the bath tub.

This is our smallest pumpkin.  The large pumpkins are still growing.
We will carve them where they are.
That or get a couple friends and a sheet to move them.
Of course we will toast the seeds.

Speaking of seeds.  We toasted the sunflower seeds last week.
After soaking in a light brine, a couple hours in the oven, they were perfect.
The only disappointment: the giant sunflowers didn't produce seeds.
Oh well, we have plenty with out them.

After ballet class, Emily picked the watermelon from our yard.
She couldn't lift it so Daddy helped. It weighed the same as Emily.
And it was delicious.

If you don't have kids you won't know who I am talking about.

If you do have kids, well, the girls dressed like D.W. today.
Pink stripes.  Arthur would be totally annoyed with his little sister
and her friends for dressing alike.

No pictures.

Katie now has 6 teeth.  Teething is rough, she earned them all.

Emily recognizes the first few numbers now.  Big girl.
As a reward she has a special watch.
When you ask her what time it is she always answers confidently "7:40".
Kids are so funny.

Katie loves her newest tricks:
waving good bye, clapping and fake sneezing.  Yes, fake sneezing.

Emily's favorite word is "realized."  e.g.  "I was thinking in my head and then I realized..."

Katie also makes kissing sounds and is starting to walk.
Ugh, I keep pushing her over but she follows Emily everywhere.

As I read a CHAPTER BOOK to big sister,
little sister CLIMBED UP THE CHAIR to sit on my lap.
I had to stop my world and enjoy the moment because this is all happening so fast.

Getting ready for the derby!
We are going to catch some fish.

Emily and Dandy, her favorite horse, and baby.
Apparently Baby wanted to join her at the stables this week.
